Two things decide it here: how long you are going for, and which roads you intend to drive once you are out of the valley. Start with the trip, then pick the class that survives it. The figures below come from all 610 listings within 50 miles of downtown, measured on 2026-09-18.
Two trips change which listing you should be looking at before the class does. A stay of a month crosses a tax line written into Utah statute. A five park loop meets road limits that three of the parks publish somewhere other than a Plan Your Visit page.
Utah Code 59-12-102(135) defines a short-term rental as one of less than 30 consecutive days, so the state's 2.5 percent and Salt Lake County's 7 percent stop at 30. The constraint is supply: 28 of the 610 listings measured on 18 September 2026 were flagged as taking a long stay.
Monthly RV rental
The tightest published limit in the five Utah national parks is 20 ft, on Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road, and Bryce prints it only in its Superintendent's Compendium. The median listing in this market is 24 ft, so most of the fleet clears most of it and nothing clears all of it by accident.

151 listed, median 28 ft, median $219 a night
The biggest class here and the one that keeps the most roads. At the 28 ft median it fits both Canyonlands campgrounds exactly and loses Bryce Point Road.
Class C RV in Salt Lake City
37 listed, median 34 ft, median $286 a night
Four in ten cannot drive Zion's east side at all, and there is no permit to buy since June 2026. Check the published length first, then ask for the width.
Class A RV in Salt Lake City
58 listed, median 21 ft, median $249 a night
A toilet and an inside shower on most of them, for $62.50 a night more than a camper van. 30 of the 58 are over Bryce's 20 ft road bar.
Class B RV in Salt Lake City
78 listed, median 20 ft, median $186.5 a night
The class that keeps the most road, at the cost of beds. 51 of the 78 clear every published length bar in all five parks, and 38 sleep two.
Camper Van in Salt Lake City
244 listed, median 24.5 ft, median $119 a night
The cheapest class here at a $119 median, and the one whose deciding number nobody publishes: only 25 of 286 towables give a length including the hitch.
Travel Trailer in Salt Lake City
12 listed, median 41.5 ft, median $181 a night
The most space and the thinnest supply. Every one of the twelve is over Zion's single-vehicle limit, so treat it as a park and stay rig.
Fifth Wheel in Salt Lake City307 of the 610 listings sleep six or more, and their median length is 30 ft. Asking for six beds and a park-legal length at once is where the choice narrows: 108 of them sleep six or more within 28 ft, the cap at both Canyonlands campgrounds, and 15 do it within 20 ft, the bar on Bryce Point Road.
Splitting the party across two rigs does not fix it at Zion, which permits one RV or camping trailer per campsite and a maximum of six people. Book the second site.
No campground inside any of the five Utah national parks has a full hookup, so the tanks and the power you carry are the ones you get. 389 listings publish a fresh water tank, at a median of 40 gallons, and 221 publish none at all. 515 publish a generator or solar and 95 publish neither.
The two classes that suit a forest road best carry the smallest tanks here: a median of 21 gallons for Class B and 22 for a camper van, against 72 for a Class A. Ask the host for the tank sizes if the plan is more than two nights away from a hookup.
