Every Utah national park runs the other way, so a southbound trip collected here spends day one crossing the whole Salt Lake Valley before it starts, and that hour belongs in the plan before you reserve the first campsite.

Getting out of Ogden
UDOT closes SR-39 through Ogden Canyon through the winter and describes the whole seasonal list only as typically November through May or June, depending on the weather. It publishes no date, no milepost and no gate location for any road on that list, and the one exact date it has ever published was a reopening, on 22 May 2026. The gate points and mileposts repeated elsewhere online come from news outlets and Wikipedia rather than from UDOT, so do not plan a canyon night on them. Check udottraffic.utah.gov the week you travel and hold a valley site in reserve, because reversing a motorhome away from a closed gate is the alternative.

Dump stations and propane
No dump station and no propane supplier in Ogden is named in any source this site can link. The nearest published one is Antelope Island State Park's, listed on its facilities page as a dump station with potable water, in the upper loop at Bridger Bay, and no season is published for it anywhere on the park's site. At Bear Lake the position is worse: three dump stations appear only as a future phase of the Rainbow Cove construction project and none is named anywhere else in the park, so confirm with the park before you plan a week of full tanks. Ask your host where they empty, and ask whether the propane comes full.
Campgrounds within reach
The two reachable state parks publish their facilities and not their limits. Bear Lake's Birch loop has 57 full hookup sites and Big Creek 46, with published site pad ranges but no maximum RV length anywhere in the park. Antelope Island's Bridger Bay is 64 sites with water and electricity in the upper loop, $30 without hookups and $40 with, $18 for a second vehicle, capped at eight people and two vehicles. Both parks' own pages disagree with themselves in places, which is set out with the sources on their destination pages. Read those before you book, because the conflicts are about opening seasons and site counts.

This site has not read the Weber County row on the Tax Commission's chart, so no rate is published for it here. Read that line before you budget. Salt Lake County's short-term lease row is 9.50% and Tooele County's is 2.50%, so the spread across this market is real and carrying one county's figure across a county line will be wrong.
