The Utah Office of Tourism publishes these drive times from Salt Lake City, prefaced as typical averages barring weather or traffic. They are the figures to plan a first day around, and they are the Office of Tourism's rather than ours.
Mileage is worth less than it looks, because the two agencies disagree. The National Park Service puts Arches at 236 miles from Salt Lake City on the same page that says 230 from the airport, and the Office of Tourism says 229. For Capitol Reef the Park Service says nothing at all: Salt Lake City does not appear on its directions page.
No source publishes a city-to-city mileage between these ten pickup areas, so none is printed here. Measure the leg you care about on a map before you book a pickup two counties from your first night.
Delivery was offered on 67.9% of the 610 listings measured on 2026-09-18. It is the host's own service at the host's own fee, quoted on the listing once you enter dates and an address. No fee is set here and none can be quoted here.
UDOT closes a set of state roads through the winter, in its own words typically November through May or June, depending on the weather. It publishes no fixed calendar date for any of them. Roads on that list that sit directly above these pickup areas include SR-39 at Ogden, SR-65, SR-190 in Big Cottonwood, SR-224 at Park City, SR-92 at Lehi, SR-150 out of Kamas, SR-35.
In July 2026 SR-150, the Mirror Lake Highway, was open until fall 2026, and SR-153 Mount Holly was closed indefinitely after fire damage and flooding. Those statuses flip within weeks, so check the route the week you travel rather than the month before.
UDOT names no gate point and no milepost for any of these closures. The gate locations and mileposts repeated widely online come from news outlets and Wikipedia, not from UDOT, and they are not repeated here as official.
UDOT seasonal roads, status per routeA Draper or Lehi pickup starts south of the Point of the Mountain grade. An Ogden pickup adds the length of the valley to a southbound trip. A Park City pickup means the vehicle comes up Parleys Canyon before you ever see it. None of that changes the nightly rate, and all of it changes the first hour.
