What it is like to drive
It pivots over the truck's rear axle rather than behind the bumper, which makes it steadier at speed and tighter in a turn than a travel trailer of the same length. The numbers that stop it are Zion's 50 ft combined limit and its 26 ft hitch to rear axle limit, and at a 41.5 ft median this class has no realistic truck length left inside the first of them.

A fifth wheel is a trailer, so Utah's 2.5 percent motor vehicle rental tax does not apply and Salt Lake County's off-highway and recreational vehicle rental column is blank. Grand County and Washington County both show 7 percent.
Utah Code 59-12-102(135) defines a short-term rental as less than 30 consecutive days, so at 30 consecutive days the rental tax stops applying. It is a definition rather than a discount, which is why a 29 night booking and a 30 night booking are not the same shape of bill. Only 4.6 percent of the 610 listings measured on 18 September 2026 accept a long term booking at all, so the cliff is only reachable on a small part of the market.

All twelve exceed 35 ft 9 in alone, and the 50 ft combined limit leaves 8.5 ft for the truck at the median. This is not a route for the class.
- Canyonlands
Both campgrounds cap at 28 ft and none of the twelve fits. The Elephant Hill Access Road at 21 ft is out for the whole class.
- Arches
Devils Garden sites run 20 to 40 ft on one park page and up to 30 ft on another, and there are no hookups anywhere in the park.
- Bryce Canyon
Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road close to anything over 20 ft. Park the rig and take the truck, or use the park shuttle.
Pickup and delivery in the valley

If you are flying in, the two published numbers that matter are the airport parking garage at 8 ft 6 in of clearance and the terminal pick-up drive at 13 ft. Since 7 June 2026 there is no tunnel permit and no ranger escort, so there is nothing to buy and an over-size vehicle is turned around at Canyon Junction or the East Entrance. Length is the part you can check from a listing. Width and height are not: 80 of the 610 listings in this market publish a width and 86 publish a height, and the National Park Service counts mirrors, tyres and anything bolted to the roof in the 7 ft 10 in width.
