By using saltlakecityrvrental.com you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

What this site is, and what it is not

Salt Lake City RV Rental is a finder. It reads park and road rules from primary sources, measures the Salt Lake City rental marketplace, and points you at listings on Outdoorsy that fit where you are actually going.

It owns no RVs. It employs no drivers. It does not deliver, stage, set up, hand over, clean or recover a vehicle. It does not insure anything, it does not take payments, and it cannot issue a refund. It is not a dealership, and it is not affiliated with the National Park Service, the Utah Office of Tourism, the Utah Department of Transportation or the Utah State Tax Commission.

Every rental is a contract between you and the host who owns the vehicle, formed on the marketplace where you book it. This site is not a party to that contract. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means a booking made after following one may earn this site a commission from the marketplace. That commission is paid by the marketplace and adds nothing to your price.

Eligibility to rent

Driver age, licence, driving history, deposit and payment requirements are set by the host and by Outdoorsy, and they vary from one listing to the next. This site publishes no minimum age of its own, because it has no standing to set one. Read the requirements on the listing before you book.

On the licence question in Utah: Utah Code 53-3-102(7)(b)(iv) exempts recreational vehicles driven as personal conveyances from the commercial vehicle definition, while the Utah Driver Handbook describes a Class D licence as covering personal vehicles up to 26,000 pounds. Utah publishes no sentence resolving the two for a motorhome above that weight. Confirm with the Driver License Division before you book a heavy unit.

Reservations, payment and cancellation

Reservations are made, confirmed and paid on Outdoorsy. This site holds no inventory, blocks no dates and processes no card. Any price shown here is a figure read from a marketplace listing on the date recorded beside it, and it can change before you book.

Security deposits, cancellation windows, refunds, mileage allowances, generator hours and cleaning fees are the ones on the listing you book. They are set by the host and administered by the marketplace. Read them before you confirm. If you need a cancellation changed or a deposit returned, the request goes to the host or to Outdoorsy, because this site has no access to either.

Utah rental tax

Utah imposes 2.5% on short term motor vehicle rentals under Utah Code 59-12-1201(2)(a)(i), and Salt Lake County adds 7%. Utah Code 59-12-102(135) defines a short term rental as one of less than 30 consecutive days, so a rental of 30 consecutive days or more falls outside the definition. Utah Code 59-12-1201(5) also exempts a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 14,001 pounds or more. Tax is collected by the marketplace, not by this site. The Tax Commission website still publishes the superseded 12,001 pound figure, so rely on the statute and confirm your own position with the Tax Commission.

Use of the vehicle

What you may and may not do with the RV is governed by the rental agreement you sign with the host. Typical restrictions include unpaved roads, unlisted drivers, smoking, towing beyond the rated capacity, and commercial use. None of those terms come from this site and none can be waived by it.

The unpaved road clause matters more in Utah than most renters expect. The National Park Service writes that most vehicle rental agreements restrict vehicles to paved roads, that the rental company can charge you for damage outside the contract, and that people caught in the backcountry with a disabled vehicle can expect towing fees in excess of $2,000. Read the contract before you turn onto a graded road.

Road and park limits are yours to check

Since 7 June 2026 the National Park Service has refused, rather than escorted, oversize vehicles on the highway between Canyon Junction and Zion's East Entrance. The single vehicle limits are 35 feet 9 inches long, 7 feet 10 inches wide, 11 feet 4 inches high and 50,000 pounds, and the measurement includes mirrors, tires and attachments. The old tunnel permit and the fee attached to it no longer exist. A vehicle over the limit is turned around at the entrance.

Confirming that the unit you book fits the roads, campgrounds and parking areas on your route is your responsibility and the host's. This site publishes the measurements it can source and names the sources, and it accepts no liability for a vehicle refused entry, turned around, ticketed or damaged.

Insurance and roadside assistance

Protection plans are offered by Outdoorsy at checkout, underwritten by its insurance partners, and subject to deductibles and exclusions stated in the plan. Roadside assistance on eligible Outdoorsy bookings is provided through that marketplace protection. Neither is provided by this site, and nothing on this site is an offer, a binder or a confirmation of coverage. Check your own policy and your card benefits as well.

Accuracy of what is published here

Park rules, tax rates, road closures and marketplace figures change. Every measured figure on this site carries the date it was measured. A figure that has not been re-measured since that date may be out of date, and the primary source is linked so you can check it yourself. Where an official source is silent or two official sources disagree, this site says so rather than picking a number. Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.

Limitation of Liability

Salt Lake City RV Rental provides information and referral links. To the fullest extent permitted by law it is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of this site, from a booking made with a host or a marketplace, or from reliance on a figure published here. You pay this site nothing for access to it, and it receives nothing from you, so where liability cannot be excluded by law it is limited to the amount you have paid this site, which is zero.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Salt Lake City RV Rental and its operators from any claim, damage or expense arising from your use of this site, your rental agreement with a host, or your breach of these terms.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this site shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah.

Changes to Terms

These terms may be modified at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page, and the date at the top of the page is updated. Continued use of the site after a change is acceptance of it.
