It is also where SR-92 turns east into American Fork Canyon and Timpanogos, on a road UDOT closes every winter without publishing a date, so check udottraffic.utah.gov in the week you travel rather than a date you read somewhere else.

Why people rent an RV in Lehi
The Alpine Loop needs two pilot cars and two police escorts for an oversize load.
The local trip from Lehi goes east rather than south. SR-92 climbs into American Fork Canyon toward Timpanogos and joins the Alpine Loop, and UDOT's secondary highway restriction table carries an unusual entry for the far end of it: on SR-92 between US-189 in Provo Canyon and the Sundance ski resort, all oversize loads require two pilot or escort vehicles and two police escort vehicles. The reason people collect here for a longer trip is simpler: Lehi starts south of the Point of the Mountain grade, in Utah County, already on the interstate that reaches every southern Utah park. You do not drive a rental through Salt Lake City, and you do not meet the valley's first sustained climb twenty minutes after the handover. What you do meet, 300 miles later, is the first published limit that can refuse the vehicle, and that is a Zion question rather than a Lehi one.
The class this end of the market rents most is the Class C, 151 of the 610 listings measured on 18 September 2026 at a median published day rate of $219. It is the default first rental because it needs no tow vehicle, and it is the class where two units in 151 are already longer than the tightest single-vehicle length bar in the Utah parks. That is a small share and it is the whole difference between a trip and a turnaround, so read the length off the listing before you read the photographs. Compare the classes.

Where you collect it in Lehi
Handovers here are driveways and gravel aprons on the newer streets between the freeway and Utah Lake, and yards along the frontage roads. UDOT lists SR-92 into American Fork Canyon among the roads it closes through the winter, typically November through May or June, depending on the weather. It publishes no date, no milepost and no gate point for any road on that list, and the only exact date it has ever published was a reopening, on 22 May 2026. Treat every other date you read for that canyon as somebody's guess. At the far end, between Provo Canyon and the Sundance resort, UDOT requires two pilot or escort vehicles and two police escort vehicles for any oversize load. Check udottraffic.utah.gov in the week you travel and hold a valley site in reserve.

Dump stations and propane
No dump station and no propane supplier in Lehi is named in any source this site can link, so none is published here. Nor is any campground on SR-92 in American Fork Canyon: the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is the agency that publishes those, and this site has not read its Pleasant Grove district pages, so no site count, season or length is claimed for that canyon. The nearest published sewer connection in any direction is Fox Den at Deer Creek State Park, over the divide at $60 a night. Ask the host where they empty the tanks and whether the propane comes full, and read the forest's own pages before you plan a night up the canyon rather than a day in it.

Salt Lake County's short-term lease row is 9.50% and Tooele County's is 2.50%, so the spread across this market is real and carrying one county's figure across a county line will be wrong.

A road that was open last season can be gated when you arrive, and a canyon road is a bad place to discover a motorhome's turning circle.
