What decides the vehicle
The five parks publish limits that contradict each other, and the loop is where that bites. Zion refuses anything over 35 ft 9 in between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance, with no permit available since 7 June 2026. Bryce closes Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road to RVs over 20 ft and to anything towing. Canyonlands bans over 21 ft from the Elephant Hill Access Road, which is an ordinary two-wheel-drive gravel road to a major trailhead. Capitol Reef gives two different figures, 27 ft and 23 ft, for the same two spur roads.
No single length clears every one of those. Pick the band by the roads you actually intend to drive, then get height and width from the host in writing, because of the 610 listings measured in this market on 18 September 2026, 86 published a height and 80 published a width.

What to settle before you leave the valley
- 1Leave the valley with full fresh water and empty tanks. Arches and Canyonlands have no dump station inside the park, and you dump in Moab.
- 2Under 21 ft keeps every published road on the loop. Over 28 ft loses both Canyonlands campgrounds.
- 3Bryce has no first-come sites at all, and Sunset Campground books only 14 days ahead while North books six months ahead.
- 4Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is closed to private vehicles during shuttle season, which ran 7 March to 28 November in 2026.
Questions people ask
Is there one RV length that clears all five parks?
No. Under 20 ft clears the most, because Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road close to RVs above that and to anything towing. Between 21 and 28 ft you keep both Canyonlands campgrounds but lose the Elephant Hill Access Road. Capitol Reef publishes two different limits for the same two spur roads, 27 ft on its Scenic Drive page and 23 ft on its Roads page, both current, so a 25 ft rig sits in a gap neither page resolves.
Do I need a timed entry reservation for Arches in 2026?
No. The National Park Service states that advanced timed-entry reservations will not be required at Arches in 2026 and that visitors may enter at any time during operating hours, though vehicles may be diverted when areas become congested. The page that documented the old system now returns a 404, and most third-party RV content still describes it.
Where do I empty the tanks on the loop?
Not inside Arches or Canyonlands: both state they have no dump station, and Arches points at facilities in Moab. Zion charges $5 for a single use of the water fill and dump at Watchman for non-campers. Bryce has one and three official sources give it three different seasons, so all three are published rather than one being picked. Capitol Reef has one between Fruita loops A and B and publishes no season for it at all.
How far ahead should I book?
385 of the 610 listings measured on 2026-09-18 came from an owner publishing a single vehicle. One vehicle is one calendar with no substitute unit behind it, so the rig you want is either free on your dates or it is not. Campground reservations are the harder constraint: Zion's Watchman takes bookings six months out, South Campground only 14 days out, and Bryce's Sunset Campground 14 days against North Campground's six months.
Will a host deliver it?
Delivery was offered on 67.9% of listings when the market was measured, at a fee the host sets. This site arranges none of it and quotes no fee. Confirm the address takes the vehicle's length and its turning circle before accepting a drop.
What size clears the most of Utah?
Under 20 ft clears every published road limit, including Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road, which close to RVs above 20 ft and to anything towing. Under 21 ft keeps the Elephant Hill Access Road at Canyonlands. Up to 28 ft keeps both Canyonlands campgrounds. Above 35 ft 9 in the Zion highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance is closed to you, with no permit available since 7 June 2026.

Collecting an RV after you land at SLC International, where the airport publishes two height gates and no price for the vehicle that will not fit under them, so the handover has to be agreed off-airport before you book the flight.
Sundance moved to Boulder for 2027, so a Park City January is now a ski week. The town publishes no public overnight RV parking, and the nearest state park campground cannot be reserved in January at all.
Speed Week at Bonneville, where the Bureau of Land Management publishes no water and no facilities on the flats, tells spectators to leave each day, and where SCTA has not yet dated the 2027 meeting.
Zion allows six people and one RV per campsite, so a party of twenty in Utah is four reservations however many beds the rigs carry. Book the campsites before you choose the vehicles.
Utah's general rifle buck deer hunt runs 17 to 25 October 2026, nine days that do not move. The Forest Service caps a developed site at seven consecutive days on most of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache, so the nine days only fit on dispersed ground.

Pick for the narrowest road, not the widest bed
The length band decides which roads stay open to you for the whole trip, and it is the hardest thing to change once the booking is accepted. Everything else is negotiable.
