A family reunion in more than one RV

Zion allows six people and one RV per campsite, so a party of twenty in Utah is four reservations however many beds the rigs carry. Book the campsites before you choose the vehicles.
What decides the vehicle
Count campsites, not beds. Zion allows a maximum of 6 people per site excluding children under 24 months, a maximum of 2 vehicles, and only 1 RV or camping trailer per site, with the RV counting as one of the two vehicles. Bryce allows 6 adults aged 16 and over, 10 occupants in total, and either 2 cars or 1 RV and trailer with 1 tow vehicle, and caps gatherings at 12 people. Capitol Reef limits a site to 8 people and sets no vehicle number at all, only that parking must fit the designated space without extending into the roadway. Utah's state parks publish the same shape in their own words: Great Salt Lake states a maximum site capacity of eight people and one vehicle plus camping unit, and Utah Lake states eight people per campsite and one camping unit per site, one tent or one RV or camper, no combinations.
So a party of twenty at Zion is four campsites and four separate reservations on one calendar, whatever the rigs sleep. And the rigs that sleep a reunion are the ones the roads refuse. Of the 610 listings measured within 50 miles of downtown Salt Lake City on 18 September 2026, 307 sleep six or more, and the median length of those 307 is 30 ft. Only 108 of them sleep six or more within 28 ft, which is the cap at both Canyonlands campgrounds, and only 15 in the entire market sleep six or more within 20 ft, which is the bar on Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road.
Group sites are the way around the arithmetic and there are very few. Bryce's Sunset group site takes a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 30 people, authorises no more than 8 vehicles in its parking area, and charges $55 to $100 by party size, with no electric, water or sewer hookups. Arches has two group sites inside a Devils Garden that holds 51 reservable sites in total, in a park that states it has no dump station and no electric, water or sewer hookups for RVs. Jordanelle's Keetley group site, which is in the Wasatch Back rather than a national park, takes up to 75 people and has four RV hookup sites with water and power. Book the campsites first and choose the vehicles to fit them. A reunion that books four rigs and then reads that the campground allows one per site has paid for three vehicles it has nowhere to put.

307 of the 610 listings measured on 2026-09-18, and their median published length is 30 ft. That length is the problem: only 108 of them sleep six or more within 28 ft, the cap at both Canyonlands campgrounds, and only 15 in the whole market sleep six or more within 20 ft, the bar on Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road. Sleeping capacity and road access pull in opposite directions.
Are there group campsites?
A few. Bryce's Sunset group site takes a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 30 people, authorises no more than 8 vehicles in its parking area, and charges $55 to $100 by party size, with no electric, water or sewer hookups. Can we get full hookups for several RVs together?
Not inside a Utah national park. Zion's Watchman states there are no full-hookup campsites and its electric sites are 30 amp, Zion's South Campground states there are no hook-ups at all, Bryce's group site states no electric, water or sewer, Arches states no dump stations and no electric, water or sewer hook-ups for RVs, and Capitol Reef states there are no utility hookups available. Full hookups exist at Utah state parks: Great Salt Lake publishes $60 a night for water, electric and sewage.
How far ahead should I book?
385 of the 610 listings measured on 2026-09-18 came from an owner publishing a single vehicle. One vehicle is one calendar with no substitute unit behind it, so the rig you want is either free on your dates or it is not. Campground reservations are the harder constraint: Zion's Watchman takes bookings six months out, South Campground only 14 days out, and Bryce's Sunset Campground 14 days against North Campground's six months.
Will a host deliver it?
Delivery was offered on 67.9% of listings when the market was measured, at a fee the host sets. This site arranges none of it and quotes no fee. Confirm the address takes the vehicle's length and its turning circle before accepting a drop.
What size clears the most of Utah?
Under 20 ft clears every published road limit, including Bryce Point Road and Paria View Road, which close to RVs above 20 ft and to anything towing. Under 21 ft keeps the Elephant Hill Access Road at Canyonlands. Up to 28 ft keeps both Canyonlands campgrounds. Above 35 ft 9 in the Zion highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance is closed to you, with no permit available since 7 June 2026.

Other trips

Utah's general rifle buck deer hunt runs 17 to 25 October 2026, nine days that do not move. The Forest Service caps a developed site at seven consecutive days on most of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache, so the nine days only fit on dispersed ground.

Pick for the narrowest road, not the widest bed
The length band decides which roads stay open to you for the whole trip, and it is the hardest thing to change once the booking is accepted. Everything else is negotiable.
